iMAGINEf4e

Collaboration project with BeyondImaginative
Developed by RandomParable.

Started on April 2020, ended at the end of 2022
Status: Resurrection in progress.

You all already know about the hot topic of artificial intelligence through the launch of OpenAI's most successful, originally non-commercial product: ChatGPT. Back when Tom Scott also did a video on them in 2020, testing out their newest text prediction engine: GPT-3, it wasn't a total failure per se, but it showed some promising progress that we wouldn't have predicted to be what it is right now. What also was happening in 2020? Me cooking up a joke for a small community on Discord. It was the start of a new year, and I wanted to start out with a banger, so I started to think of a strategy to absolutely fool everyone that I knew of. Then it struck me.
For some ungodly reasons, I thought of making a Discord "bot" to prank everyone to thinking that they are actually a friend of mine.
So I started to get to work. The original starting versions were built with Python and React. With how limited my knowledge in programming and designing was back then, well... the first version looked something like this.

fig.1 : the first version of iMAGINEf4e - 2020

Do note, everything was built from scratch. I had to create my own libraries and training models, since AI was still a far-fetched dream back then, not much people wanted to invest effort in supporting the work. Result, not much resources to work with.
"Why don't you scrape the internet for resources then?". AI ethics still exists, and I followed them. I ain' gonna be scummy like the rest of the AI developer community.
And well, on April 2020, I have ownd my buddies on Discord, thinking the iMAGINEf4e instance on there (Kadifal) was actually a living human being.
After the ownership of BeyondImaginative by The Collection Available was completed back in 2021, this was their first assigned project, to get the hang of things. But they didn't do much except consultation and maintenance. And sponsorship too, can't forget the bag of money. That's when development was really kicking in.The entire backend was overhauled to compensate for the upcoming large update from the learning library provided by BeyondImaginative's research department. And all of the training models had to be updated to be compatible with the new knowledge. It took us almost a year to get everything up and running. It was at this moment, that we f**ked up. Nah, just kidding. It was at that moment, iMAGINEf4e's service was fully operational for the public to access. Unfortunately, this service was only provided for professional inquiries through BeyondImaginative, as this project was too expensive to maintain to be released freely to the public.
I know I've done my fair share of mocking OpenAI, but at least they got Elon Musk to back their project. We are only an indie team working on a revolutionary piece of obscure software.

fig.2 : the last version of iMAGINEf4e - 2022

What you're seeing right now, is the final version of the iMAGINEf4e graphical user interface. Unfortunately, due to excessive personal works and stress from this same project, I decided to put its development on hiatus until further notice. Now it's being repurposed as a bot for my main Carrd page, as you might have noticed on the update notes. We have provided to our customers the necessary tools and resources to continue operating their iMAGINEf4e instances. But a number of our clients has opted out of our LTS service, as OpenAI is providing an actually operational service.I have written a total of, according to GitHub: 764,835 lines of code for this project, in the span of almost 2 whole years. With BeyondImaginative, the total number is 928,441.
At the end, this project was still at its late stages of transitioning into a better language platform than Python, to C#. With accompanying languages including Rust, C++ and barebones TypeScript. No library bullshit.
It was a fun journey while it lasted... or maybe it doesn't have to end this way.
